Bid to rehabilitate vagabond children in the Capital

Thought for the day: Some of the street children attending the coordination meeting for rehabilitation organised by the Delhi police and NGOs in New Delhi on Friday.

NEW DELHI: The Delhi police in coordination with the State Social Welfare Department and some non-government organisations held a meeting near the ancient Hanuman Mandir in Connaught Place here on Friday for rehabilitation of vagabond children living in the vicinity of the temple.

Temple association

The officials listened to the problems faced by the children, the local residents and the temple association. The children expressed their desire to pursue education and lead a stable life. The problem of drug abuse by children was also discussed.

Motivate

The committee members of the Delhi police, the Social Welfare Department and the NGOs then decided to motivate the children and prepare them for rehabilitation. Over 30 children attended the meeting.
