HYDERABAD: Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy said here on Friday that he had neither interfered in the Telangana issue earlier nor had any intention to do so now. He appeared to suggest that any decision on the demand for formation of Telangana was the prerogative of the Congress high command. Dr. Reddy was responding to question at a press conference about the allegation by leaders of his own party that he was the main obstacle in the way of the Congress high command taking a decision on Telangana. When it was pointed out that some senior Congress leaders were openly talking about Telangana in spite of the high command’s directive not to air their views publicly, he said it was for the leadership to look into the issue. Asked to react to reports that the AICC had backed his line of thinking on Telangana, he said, “It is not my statement. Even I saw these reports in the newspapers today.” Refuses commentThe Chief Minister refused to comment on the TRS’ threat that its MPs, MLAs and MLCs would resign on March 6 if there was no positive response on the demand for Telangana by the Prime Minister. He said he was not a person to cause embarrassment to any person on any matter, and much less to senior Congress leaders as alleged. “I have no such habit.”
