SANGAREDDY: Minister for Cooperation Mohammad Fariduddin announced that the State Government is all set to launch the much awaited Pavala vaddi farm loans to farmers of the State once the Union Government clears the file. Addressing the Sankranthi Rytu awards function here on Friday the Minister said that interests rates of farm loans disbursed by the commercial and cooperative banks have drastically come down after the Congress took over the reins from the Telugu Desam government. He further said that the government was committed to double the quantum of agricultural loans given in the State during the present term of the government. The Minister also announced that the government has decided to select another 25,000 progressive farmers through out the State who would play an important role in spreading new methods of cultivation aimed at cutting down the production costs. Meet with CMFo’llowing the demand from Anjireddy of the Bharat Kisan Sangh and Manda Balaramreddy, president of AP State Farmers Ffederation for commensurate price for sugarcane particularly for Medak farmers, Fariduddin assured them that he would soon arrange a meeting between the Chief minister and the sugar mill representatives to solve the problem. He agreed that there was a problem with mills that are resisting to even offer last year price. The farmer representatives complained that their counterparts in Andhra region have been offered Rs. 1,150 per ton of cane. However the Minister attributed lack of commensurate price to international slump in Sugar prices. He refused to agree that the Medak farmers have been singled out saying that the prices in the district also touched the Rs.1,250 mark before the slump in sugar prices. Sankranti Rytu awardsHe handed over the Sankranti Rytu awards at the Zilla Parishad conference hall on Friday. Lingannagari Mallappa, Bhaskar Reddy, K,Narsimharao Sharma, P.Mahender Reddy, T.Venkatram Reddy, P.Narsareddy, S.Sankarappa, D.V.S.Usha Rani, A.Anitha, Y.Buchireddy (sugarcane), B.Srinivasa Reddy (horticulture),M. Madhava Reddy (animal husbandry), B. Bhikshapathi (sheep rearing), A.Padmarao (poultry) won the awards. On the other hand government employees also received the awards for supportive role. P.Narsaiah and Sivakrishna Prasad (APCPDCL), V.Narsappa, Kesavulu and Abbas Saheb (silk), D.Chakrapani(horticulture), Vijay Kumar (extension), Narayankhed branch of the Medak district cooperative bank, SBI Sangareddy, Narsapur ad Narayankhed branches, APGVB Sivvampet received awards under this category. While farmers received Rs. 5,000 cash award the officers received a shawl and memento. Some awardees urged the State Government to name the awards to farmers as ‘Bhumiputra’ and officers award as ‘Rytu Bandhava.’
