Rs. 249-crore budget for Mahabubnagar in 2008-09

MAHABUBNAGAR: The Zilla Parishad General body meeting which was held here on Friday under the Chairmanship of K. Damodar Reddy has unanimously passed three resolutions.

The meeting has passed a resolution to send proposals to the Government of budget estimation for the year 2008-09 with an outlay of Rs.249 crore.

The meeting also resolved to call for open tenders system to the proposed shopping complex at Wanaparthy mandal head quarters besides transferring of two panchayat roads in Kodangal and Narayanpet to the jurisdiction of roads and buildings department.

Most of the ZPTC members demanded for required supply of DAP fertilizer.

They alleged that the fertilizer dealers in the district were creating artificial shortage and selling the fertilizer at higher prices. Replying to the members, District Collector V.Usharani said that action would be taken against the dealers indulging in creating artificial shortage of the fertilizer. She also informed that due to demand for sprinkler system, mandal wise targets would be fixed from next year.

ZPTC Balsing Naik alleged that the government has not provided work to the labourers who applied for work under EGS scheme in Kodangal and Maddur mandals. He also alleged that government failed to provide unemployment pensions to them. Mr. Naik also demanded an all party meeting on payment of charges paid to the labourers who worked under EGS in Keshavapoor village of Koilkonda mandal. The ZP chairman K.Damodar Reddy assured that a committee would be constituted to find out the irregularities in Keshavapoor village works.

Earlier there was an exchange of arguments between members of ruling party and MLAs with MP from Nagarkurnool (TDP) Jagannatham over the rights, responsibilities of the members and proceedings of the agenda.

ZP Vice-Chairman Krishna, ZP CEO Pothanna, legislators Puli Veeranna, Gurunath Reddy, Edma Kishta Reddy, Swarna Sudhkar Reddy, Chittem Ram Mohan Reddy, C.Laxma Reddy, Jupally Krishna Rao, D.K.Aruna MLC Revanth Reddy and other district officials also participated.
