Manipal: Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment Oscar Fernandes inaugurated the advanced 64-slice MD CT scanner at the Kasturba Hospital here on Friday. Mr. Oscar Fernandes lauded the hospital authorities for introducing the latest scanner. Upgrading technology would add to the value of the hospital, Mr. Fernandes said. Pro-Chancellor of Manipal University H.S. Ballal said the advanced scanner would ensure better health care for patients and the medical faculty would benefit from the precise diagnosis made available through the machine. Head of the department of Radio Diagnosis and Imaging at Kasturba Medical College V.R.K. Rao said this new scanner was useful in examining patients with severe injuries and trauma involving many organs or bones and the heart. President of Manipal University Ramdas M. Pai, Kasturba Medical College dean Sripati Rao were among those present.
