HYDERABAD: The job mela organised by the SC Corporation here on Friday evoked good response with more than 4,000 aspirants registering their names for interviews. It was inaugurated by Backward Classes Welfare Minister M. Mukesh Goud. In all, 22 companies, including software and finance companies offered to recruit at least 1,500 people in various capacities. Notable among them are ICICI Prudential, LIC, Sriram Securities, Apple Network and Srirama Life Insurance. Some companies are also providing training-cum-placement in software, business process outsourcing (BPO) and marketing fields. Candidates, mostly girls with educational qualification ranging from SSC to degree, thronged the venue since morning for registering their names. Scuffle ensuesA minor scuffle ensued at the reception counter when aspirants came to take application forms. However, officials intervened and dispersed the applicants. Interviews will be held from January 21 after scrutiny. Jobseekers who failed to submit application forms at the mela can directly send them to the District Employment Office in Mallepally before January 25. “It’s a good platform for us to interact with representatives of different companies and see where we stand,” said an aspirant K. Renuka, a resident of Balanagar. Addressing the gathering, the Minister said that the Government is keen to provide any kind of assistance to youth to enable them secure jobs and added that financial aid would also given to them for self-employment.
