‘Thirunakshatram’ on January 25

KANCHEEPURAM: ‘Thaiyil Mahotsavam’ to mark the ‘Thiruavathara nakshatram’ of Thirumazhisai Alwar will be celebrated at Sri Yathokthakari Swamy temple on January 25.

The presiding deity, ‘Periya Perumal,’ will be taken out in a procession on ‘sesha vahanam’ from the temple to Orikkai along with the panchaloka idol of Thirumazhisai Alwar.

Special anointment would be performed to the deity on the banks of the Palar around noon and ‘sathumarai’ would be held on the temple premises at night, according to the temple hereditary managing trustee, N. Narayanan.
