One held for robbery bid

CHENNAI: An attempt to burgle a jeweller’s house on E.V.K. Sampath Salai was foiled and one of the two persons who broke into the house was arrested.
According to police, Kishore Kumar Jain, owner of a well-known jewellery showroom in the city, had been out of the city for a few days. When he returned home on Thursday night around 11.30 p.m. he found that somebody had broken into his house. When Mr. Jain raised an alarm one of the alleged thieves escaped, with some cash, but the family members managed to capture the other person and handed him over to the police.
Narcotics seized
Two persons belonging to Royapuram and Kodungaiyur were arrested on charges of possessing narcotic substances.
According to police, based on a tip-off, the duo, who were on a motorcycle, were intercepted near Shanmuga theatre.
A total of 2,200 gm of narcotics was seized during the search.
The two men were arrested and a case was filed under Section 20B of Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
