Cash, valuables stolen from temple Crime Notes

BANGALORE: A temple was burgled and cash and valuables were stolen on Thursday. The theft took place at Tirumalaraya temple in Toobarahalli in Varthur police station limits. According to the police, the priest of the temple closed it around 9 p.m. on Wednesday. A devotee who was sweeping the surroundings found the temple open on Thursday morning and alerted the priest. He found that some of the ornaments were missing. He also found that miscreants had broken the “hundi” and had taken away the cash and other valuables from it.

The police have registered the complaint filed by Srinivas, a trustee of the temple.

Cash and other articles were burgled from the house of Arvind in Karthik Nagar in HAL police station limits on Thursday. According to police, Arvind left the house in the morning and when he returned in the night, he noticed that someone had entered his house and made away with cash, gold and silver articles and some electronic goods, in all worth Rs. 1 lakh. The HAL police have registered a case.

Fire

Fire broke out on the second floor of Laxmi Complex on St. Marks Road in the early hours of Friday. The fire was noticed in the office of a private company. Nine fire tenders took two hours to put off the fire, which is said to have resulted from a short circuit. The Cubbon Park police are waiting for the owner of the company, who is in Mumbai, to make an estimate of the loss of property.

Fire broke out in the showroom of Siddalingeshwara Enterprises in Kempegowda Nagar near T. Dasarahalli on Friday. Three fire engines were sent to put out the fire.

Arrested

The Basaveshwaranagar police have arrested 11 persons who were allegedly involved in the violence following the death of a 45-year-old man on Outer Ring Road, off Magadi Road, on Thursday. A 1,000-strong mob blocked the road and torched a lorry and smashed the windscreens of 10 BMTC buses and a Hoysala patrol jeep. Four policemen were injured after they were beaten by the miscreants. The police said all the four policemen have been discharged after being treated in private hospitals.

Recovered

The K.G. Halli police have arrested two persons who were allegedly involved in several chain snatching incidents reported in south Bangalore. The police recovered 2.5 lakh worth gold chains. The accused Izaz (25) and Adil Khan (21) were allegedly involved in chain snatching incidents reported in J.P. Nagar, Tilak Nagar, Banashankari and Mico Layout police station limits. The Central Police arrested Jai Kumar (39) of Kempegowda Nagar for his alleged involvement in illegal cricket betting during the India-Australia cricket match. The police said Jai Kumar was found operating from a lodge in A.V. Road. They recovered Rs. 24,000 and some mobile phones.

Undertrial dies

A 30-year-old undertrial, who was suffering from chest pain, died while being taken to Victoria Hospital from the Bangalore Central Prison on Friday evening. According to Chief Superintendent of Central Prison V.S. Raja, Muthu Krishna was being treated for chest pain at the prison hospital for about two weeks.
