The second phase of revision of electoral rolls to begin this coming Monday The period for filing claims objections would continue till February 5 NEW DELHI: The first phase of intensive revision of electoral rolls in the Capital that began last November has been completed and the second phase would begin this coming Monday. Informing media persons about the exercise to update electoral rolls at a press conference here on Friday, Chief Electoral Officer Satbir Silas Bedi said that after the first phase of revision the number of voters in Delhi has gone up by 49.2 lakh. Of a total of 1.07 crore voters, 60 lakh are males and the rest females, the officer said. With the draft electoral rolls to be published on Monday, the second phase of revision would be initiated. The period for filing claims and objections against the list would continue till February 5. Special campaigns would be organised on February 2 and 3. People can approach the Electoral Registration Officers and their deputies at voter registration and EPIC (Election Photo Identity Card) centres – called VRECs – for inclusion, objection, deletion, correction, transposition of entry, preparation and issue of photo identity cards, preparation and issue of duplicate EPIC, issue of certificates of entry on electoral rolls and inspection of entries in the electoral rolls. Ms. Bedi said the draft electoral rolls would be available at www.ceodelhi.nic.in for the people to have easy access. Form No. 6, which is used for entering the name in the electoral rolls, can also be downloaded from the website. The officer added that from the first week of April 2008 a major campaign would be launched for preparation and issue of photo identity cards to cover those who have not yet been issued the voter identity cards. Ms. Bedi also appealed to the citizens, whose names have not been entered in the voter lists, to make use of the opportunity.
