Shimla: Snowfall in the upper reaches and rain in the lower areas intensified cold wave conditions in Himachal Pradesh, with Pooh in Kinnaur district remaining cut off from the rest of the country for the 11th consecutive day. Snowfall was recorded in Kalpa (12.6 cm), Patseo (9 cm) and Dhundi in Kullu district (16 cm), the met office said here. The famous tourist destination of Manali also witnessed snowfall on Friday night. The State capital was lashed by about 6.8 mm of rain, causing the mercury to dip sharply. The minimum in Shimla was recorded at 0.4 degrees Celsius in comparison to 5.8 deg C on Friday, the Met office said. Icy winds also added to the discomfort of residents. Rain was reported from other places also with Sundarnagar recording 4.5 mm and Dharamsala 8.2 mm, the Met office said. A report from Kinnaur said Pooh in the border region remained cut-off from the rest of the country for the 11th successive day on Saturday. However, roads to famous tourist site of Sangla in the same district opened on Saturday though the area witnessed light snowfall, the report added. The power scenario in the Kinnaur district remained bad, the report said. The Weather office forecast rain/snow at isolated places in the hill state in next 24 hours. PTI
