BANGALORE: Former president A.P.J. Abdul Kalam on Saturday presented a vision for enabling Bangalore University to generate quality human resource for meeting the development goals to be achieved by the educational sector by 2020. This includes carving out a mandatory six-month diploma programme along with the graduate and postgraduate course to equip students with knowledge on subjects such as leadership, management, finance, marketing, inter-personal relationship, negotiation, entrepreneurship, IT/ITES applications, knowledge process outsourcing domain expertise and ethical values in all professional transactions. He said students should be given a certificate or a diploma in these skills along with the professional degree. This kind of education would equip the youth with employable skills needed by the industry and also give confidence to them to take up entrepreneurship as an independent venture, he said urging the youth to become job creators instead of job seekers. He asked the university to take up PURA (providing urban amenities in rural areas) in its limits.
