Rachana in quarterfinals

HYDERABAD: Rachana Reddy defeated Shravya Shivani 6-3 to enter the quarterfinals in the girls’ under-8 category of the Tiny Tots Open tennis tournament on Saturday.

Allister to lead

Allister Edwards will lead Hyderabad in the 19th K.D. Singh Babu all-India prize money hockey tournament (under-14 years) in Lucknow from January 24.

Sujatha named captain

Sujatha will lead Osmania University in the all-India inter-university women’s basketball championship to be held in VR College (Nellore) from January 21.

Rajiv wrestling meet

Rajiv Gandhi memorial Kesari prize money wrestling championship will be organised by AP Amateur Wrestling Association at Pahadi Sharif Maidan (Ranga Reddy district) here from January 21 to 24.

The winner will get Rs. 20,000 and a silver ‘gagdha’ and the runner-up and third-place winner Rs. 10,000 and Rs. 5,000 respectively. For details, call 27567691.

Narrow win for AP

Andhra Pradesh defeated Orissa by a solitary goal in the league phase of the seventh All India BSNL football tournament in Bangalore.

The match-winner came through Rajasekhar of a pass from Laxminarayana in the 40th minute.

For the winner, goalkeeper Premnath put up a good show. Earlier, Andhra held NTR, Delhi, to a goalless draw.

Corporate sports

Dravyansh Corporate Cricket & Sports Organisers will organise inter-corporate sports festival from February 2.
