KOLLAM: The second phase trial in the Kalluvathukkal hooch tragedy will begin before Kollam First Additional District and Sessions Judge T. Mohandas on February 4. Thirty-three persons died in the tragedy on October 20, 2000. In the second phase, the accused in the case who were absconding when the charges in the main trial were filed will be tried. The prime accused in the second phase trial is Usha, wife of Chandradas, alias Manichan, who figured as accused number 7 in the main trial. He was sentenced to life imprisonment for his role in the tragedy.
