Eggs, chicks from West Bengal banned

CHENNAI: The entry of chicks, eggs, poultry feed and related ingredients from West Bengal to Tamil Nadu has been banned following the outbreak of bird flu there.

Officials of the State Animal Husbandry Department are manning a check-post at Kavarapettai near Chennai on national highway 5 (Chennai-Kolkata ) and monitoring the movement of vehicles round-the-clock, according to an official release on Friday. Four such posts at have also been opened at Tirutanni, Ranipet, Hosur and Sathyamangalam. — Special Correspondent
