DAVANGERE: Five officials of the district administration have been suspended on charges of dereliction of duty, Deputy Commissioner of the district M.B. Dyaberi has said. Speaking to The Hindu here on Sunday, he said of the five officials, a few had refused to perform election work, while the others did not discharge certain duties assigned to them properly. The officials kept under suspension are: Sadashiva, nodal officer of Chennagiri taluk panchayat; Shivakumar, revenue officer of Chennagiri town panchayat; Sunil Kumar, village accountant; Fakir Sab, village accountant; and B.M. Chennashappa of the Education Department. EC directionsThe Deputy Commissioner said that as per the directions of the Election Commission, the district administration had to complete certain election-related tasks within a stipulated time-frame owing to which many officials had been assigned work. RefusalBut, the five had refused to comply with orders, Mr. Dyaberi said and added that he had no choice but to suspend them. ActionHe said action would be taken against those refusing to take up election work .
