RHS hits out at BJP on Sethu project

Staff Correspondent

BIDAR: State president of the Rashtriya Hindu Sena (RHS) Pramod Mutalik on Saturday said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had no right to speak against the Sethusamudram project, since it was the BJP that passed a resolution on the project when it was in power at the Centre in 2001.

Addressing a press conference here, Mr. Mutalik said that the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government at Centre was only implementing the earlier resolution passed by the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) Government.

Mr. Mutalik alleged that the BJP was trying to gain political mileage by raking up the Ram Sethu issue as elections were round the corner in the State.

“If the BJP tries to play with the sentiments of the people on the Sethusamudram project, certain documents related to the project will be made public,” he warned.
