‘Means adopted by naxalites unacceptable’

Special Correspondent

‘Some of their objectives are good’

GULBARGA: Sri Sri Ravishankar Guruji of the Art of Living Foundation on Sunday said that naxalites, jehadis and extremists were detrimental to the economic progress of the country.

At a function organised by the Hyderabad Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (HKCCI), Sri Sri Ravishankar, however, said that some of the objectives of naxalites such as eliminating corruption and ensuring equality were good, but the means adopted by them were unacceptable.

Sri Sri Ravishankar said that youth had strayed into the path of extremism and violence because of the failure of society to motivate them spiritually.

Nobody who had been motivated spiritually would accept the path of violence, he said.

Ravishankar said that the globalisation and liberalisation of economy could not be reversed now and one should learn to make optimum use of them.

He cited the example of European countries which had prospered due to opening up of their economy.
