Sale of cement at Rs.200 a bag to begin today

Concession rate only for houses not more than 1,000 sq.ft.

VIRUDHUNAGAR: The sale of cement at a concessional rate of Rs.200 a bag through Tamil Nadu Civil Supply Corporation will begin in the district on Monday.

The new arrangement was to check the price of cement in the open market, the Collector, V. Chandrasekaran, said in a statement.

All those who are constructing houses, measuring not more than 1,000 square feet, could get a maximum of 100 bags at the concessional rate. The beneficiaries should get necessary orders for the purpose from the headquarters Deputy Tahsildar on producing the plan approval of the proposed building obtained on or after July 1, 2007.

The applications seeking cement at concessional rate from people who do not have the approved building plan would be processed only after the site inspection conducted by the respective building inspectors, the statement said.

People could get the cement bags from the TNCSC godowns based on the allocation orders issued by the Deputy Tahsildar from Monday. People should hand over a Demand Draft drawn in favour of the Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation.

The Collector also warned of legal action against misuse of the cement bought through TNCSC.

Dindigul

The sale of cement at Rs.200 a bag will commence in the district from Monday.

In a release here on Sunday, the Collector, R. Vasuki, said that cement would be supplied through the godowns of the TNCSC.

Those who require cement can apply along with plan approvals issued after July 1, 2007 to the respective headquarters Deputy Tahsildars to get the allotment order. On the basis of the order, cement would be given to them, she added. If a person did not have plan approval, Revenue Inspectors would visit the construction site for verification. On the basis of their advice, allotment orders would be issued, she added.

The Government has allotted 1,753 tonnes of cement to sell them at Rs.200 a bag in the district, according to Collector Har Sahay Meena. Sale of cement would commence on Monday. He appealed to people to avail this facility.
