‘Eight TRS MLAs ready to resign’
Staff Reporter
Sangareddy: Dissident TRS legislator T. Jayaprakash Reddy on Sunday claimed that at least eight TRS legislators, unhappy with the March 6 deadline imposed by party chief K. Chandrashekhar Rao, were ready to quit and join the dissidents.
Mr. Reddy said the MLAs were worried that a premature departure would anger the voters in their constituencies as development took a backseat during the past three-and-a-half years. He said that the legislators had no faith in their leader.
Activists caned
Warangal Staff Reporter writes: Several TRS activists sustained injuries when the police used force to disperse them when they tried to stall a meeting being attended by Major Irrigation Minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah and TRS rebel MLA D. Srinivasa Rao at Thorrur mandal here on Sunday.
The TRS workers gheraoed the Minister and MLA and demanded that they extend solidarity with the TRS for separate Telangana and also wanted them to resign their posts for the cause.
‘Betrayers’
The activists raised slogans against the Minister and the MLA describing them ‘betrayers’ of Telangana.
