“Doctors should show more sensitivity to the ailing people” JAIPUR: Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje has taken a serious notice of the Medical and Health Department having spent only 50 per cent of the State Plan allocation so far and instructed the officials to speed up implementation of various programmes for health care of the poor. Ms. Raje , reviewing the department’s progress at a meeting here over the week-end, said the targets set under the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) should be achieved strictly on schedule and relief extended to the people in the remote and inaccessible areas. The Chief Minister said there was no reason for delay in the implementation of the Budget provisions and her own announcements in the health care sector during her visits to various parts of the State. “Doctors in government hospitals need to show more sensitivity to the ailing people,” she added. Ms. Raje said the construction works under NRHM and the Rajasthan Health System Development Project would be completed by June this year and equipment and machines installed shortly afterwards to provide treatment to patients. State Medical and Health Minister Narpat Singh Rajvi said the department would popularise the health insurance scheme launched last month in five districts to provide indemnity cover up to Rs.1.35 lakh and medical claim up to Rs. 30,000 to the poor. About 3,000 persons have been treated free of cost under the scheme so far.
