Compensation for rain-hit farmers within two weeks

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: Full compensation will be paid within two weeks to farmers who lost their crops during the recent rain in the State.

It was found that more areas were affected by the rain than assessed earlier, which was intimated to the Centre. Meanwhile, the Government, without waiting for the receipt of the damage assessment report, started distributing relief to affected people.

According to an official press release, Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur, Cuddalore, Tiruchi, Thanjavur Nagapattinam, Tiruvarur and Tiruvannamalai districts were the worst affected.
