The five-day event to conclude on January 30 Former Karnataka Governor to inaugurate the fest VISAKHAPATNAM: As many as 218 concerts are on the cards during the Tyagaraja Aradhana Mahotsavam to be held at Kalabharathi from January 26 to 30. Announcing this at a media conference here on Sunday, president of Tyagaraja Aradhana Trust and Visakha Music and Dance Academy, Kalabharathi, the co-sponsor, C.S.N. Raju, said that 730 applications were received from all parts of the State for participation in the five-day festival. However, due to limitations only 546 artistes could be accommodated in the available time. To accommodate more number of artistes, students belonging to the same guru were made as groups and given the opportunity to participate in the event to the extent possible, he said. The festival would begin on Jan. 26 evening and former Karnataka Governor V.S. Ramadevi would inaugurate it. A grand ‘Nava veena’ concert would be conducted by a group of 13 artistes led by T. Padmini. The next day is Pushya Bahula Panchami, the death anniversary of saint Tyagaraja. “A Tiruveedhi will be conducted in the morning after which ‘Pancharatna seva’ by Sangita Kalanidhi Nedunuri Krishnamurthi and many top grade artistes numbering 150 will be held,” Mr. Raju said. The concerts would be held daily from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. and on the closing day , Anjaneyotsavam, and prasadam distribution would be held.
