Polling held for Haryana bodies

Chandigarh: Haryana Election Commissioner Chander Singh said that as per the election programme, polling for the offices of 169 members of the Municipal Committees Haily Mandi, Pataudi, in District Gurgaon, Tarou in district Mewat, Narnaud in district Hisar, Siwani and Bawani Khera in district Bhiwani, Kalayat and Pundri in district Kaithal, Indri and Nilokheri in district Karnal, Kharkhoda in district Sonepat, Kalanaur in district Rohtak and Beri in district Jhajjar was conducted on Sunday.

Eight members, including one member from ward number 10 of Municipal Committees , Pundri, three members from ward number 4,6, and 13 of Municipal Committee, Kalayat and three members from ward no 3,5 and 12 of Municipal Committee, Tarou and one member from ward no 2 of Municipal Committee, Haily Mandi, were elected unopposed.

1,34,269 voters cast their votes. This is 88 per cent of the voters’ strength. The polling was totally peaceful and no untoward incident was reported.--PTI
