Gagan defeats Rafat Habib and Manan

BANGALORE: Gagan defeated Rafat Habib 7-5 in a 9-Ball pool selection camp match at the KSBA Hall here during the weekend. Later Gagan defeated Manan 7-6.

Disabled badminton team

A six-member will represent Karnataka in the All India super six disabled badminton tournament at Angul in Orissa from January 25 to 27.

The team: K. Gopinath, Vijay Rao Shinde, Arcot Srikanth, Surjit Singh, Narendra Kumar and K.Y. Venkatesh.

Hat-trick by Suresh

Suresh scored four goals, including a hat-trick (32nd, 35th and 39th min.), helped Kerala trounce Himachal Pradesh 10-0 in the all-India BSNL football tournament at the Football Stadium here on Sunday.

Sunil Kumar (3), Ilyas Ahmed, Sethuraj and Sethumadhavan were the other goal scorers.

Brace by Selvam

Selvan’s brace (fifth and 12th minutes) helped Velu Socials defeat BHEL (EDL) 4-0 in a State ‘C’ division football league match at the I.I.Sc ground here on Sunday evening.

Stanley (39th) and Srinath (62nd) also scored for the victor.

Basel Mission triumph

At Dharwad, Basel Mission English Medium High School ‘A’ (Dharwad) defeated last year’s runner-up KE Board’s High School by 34 runs to win the fifth Kosmos Cup under-17 inter-schools cricket tournament on Saturday.

Opting to bat, BMEMHS ‘A’ made 246 in 45 overs, thanks to the 101-run fourth-wicket partnership between Nitin Gowda (60) and Tejeshwar (54). KE Board’s could muster only 212 for eight in reply.

Karthik scalps five

At Mysore, off-spinner Sree Karthik (five for 16) helped RBNCC ‘B’ register a 52-run win over Jaihind CC ‘A’ in the KSCA Mysore Zone first division league here on Sunday.

The scores: First division: RBNCC ‘B’ 217 in 41.4 overs (Nirmith Nithyanand 57, Harsh 42, Sunil Raj four for 32) bt Jaihind CC ‘A’ 165 in 35.5 overs (Sree Karthik five for 16); FUCC 59 in 21.3 overs (S. Dhananjaya four for 12, Aditya B. Sagar four for 29) lost to MUCSC 63 for no loss in 12.5 overs; Yuvaraja’s College 181 in 49.1 overs (M.S. Vinay 62) bt National CC 145 in 48.3 overs (Pruthvi Shekar five for 48).
