Prabhakaran bags title

TIRUCHI: D. Prabhakaran, with six points at the end of the seventh and final round won the title in the open category at the State-level chess tournament, conducted by the Tiruchi Chess Academy, here on Sunday.

Final standings: Open: (seven rounds): 1. D. Prabhakaran (6), 2. M. Kunal (6), 3. M.K. Alaguraja (5.5).

Sporting posts win

Sporting Youngsters FC defeated Nathard MFC 1-0 in a Tiruchi District Football Association third division ‘A’ zone league match in Tiruchi on Sunday. Kallel Ahmed was the scorer.

SDAT claims title

SDAT-Tirunelveli, with 62 points, won the overall championship at the N.S. Balamurugan Memorial State-level invitation swimming meet in Thanjavur on Sunday. SDAT-Thanjavur finished runners-up with 53 points.
