State multimedia campaign under way

To create awareness of welfare schemes

Nagercoil: A 10-day multimedia campaign being organised by the Information and Public Relations Department at Uzhavar Shanthai in Vadaserry evoked good response on Sunday.

The Minister for Tourism, N. Suresh Rajan, inaugurated it on Saturday.

He said that the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam Government had been implementing various welfare and development activities for the benefit of the poor and downtrodden.

The Chief Minister, M. Karunanidhi, had fulfilled all the poll promises.

The Information and Public Relations Department was asked to create an awareness among the public of various schemes, he said.

The Minister released a book and pamphlet under the title ‘Thodarum sathanaikal’ (the achievement will continue), which was received by the District Revenue Officer, B. Jothi Nirmala.

Steps had already been taken to organise such multimedia campaigns in Agastheeswaram, Thovalai, Rajakkamangalam, Kurunthencode, Thuckalay, Thiruvattar, Killiyoor, Melpuram and Munchirai panchayat unions.

The MLAs Rajan , Leema Rose, Ashokan Slomon, Chairman of Nagercoil municipality , Era Bernard, member of Backward Class Commission, T. Hari Ram, Public Relations Officer, P. Tamil Eniyan, APRO, and other officials participated in the campaign.
