Two held on murder charge

Tuticorin: The police arrested two persons on a charge of murdering G. Thangapandiayan (23) at Authoor near here in the early hours of Sunday.

According to the police, V. Shankar (23) and M. Marimuthu (27) attacked the deceased with a sickle.

Sumathi (21) allegedly committed suicide by self-immolation at Korkai near here on Saturday. The police said she, a spinster, was upset that proposals for her marriage got dropped at frequent intervals and hence, she took the extreme step.
