TIRUCHI: Poompuhar showroom in here has put on a glittering show with extensive display of jewelleries.
Intricately crafted bangles and armlets made with copper and one gram of gold could be picked for special occasions. Bangles, in pearl, silver and gilded with gold, come in all sizes to suit all ages. Bracelets and necklaces studded with precious and semi-precious stones, gold plated earrings are extensively displayed.
Of all the glitzy exhibits, a multi-hued choker, emitting muted and bright shades of each colour concurrently is the major attraction.
The choker sans any metal is made of tiny bits of ruby, emerald, blue and yellow sapphires, topaz and few American diamonds for added sheen.
The five-row choker comes in different lengths, priced from Rs.5,000 to Rs. 21,000.
Hyderabadi pearl necklaces are made elegant with stone-studded pendants. Pearl bangles, Jaipur’s Lac bangles and also a range of anklets made with five metals are on show.
There is also an attractive array of fancy bangles.
One could take home pebble-sized corals, amethyst, green, yellow and jade, garnet and other semi-precious stones that could be studded on any trinkets to suit their taste. College-goers could choose any of the oxidised silver jewellery, which would go well with both salwars and western wears.
Pure silver bangles, necklaces that come with matching earrings, could also be the favourite pick of youngsters.
For the spiritualists, there are ample choices. Rudraksha and spatika beads and plethora of lucky stones are on the display.
This apart, Benares silk paintings, wooden furniture, palm leaves painting from Orissa and ethnic wear from Rajasthan feature in the exhibition.
The exhibition is open on weekdays till February 9, from 10.00 a.m. to 8.00 p.m.
