State-level swimming meet held in Thanjavur

Good win: Overall Title winners of Tirunelveli team posing with their medals in a State-level swimming meet in Thanjavur on Sunday.
THANJAVUR: Balamurugan Trust of Anjalai Ammal Mahalingam Engineering College at Thanjavur has been organising State-level Swimming Meet for the past 12 years.
This year also the meet was held at Kundavai Swimming Pool at Annai Sathya Stadium on Sunday. Nearly 136 swimmers, both men and women participated in the one day programme inaugurated by S. Thamizh Selvan, District Sports Officer.
According to S. Thamizharasan of Balamurugan Trust, the meet is organised in memory of Balamurugan, son of Namasivayam, who founded the Anjalai Ammal Engineering College. Balamurugan was an ace swimmer. The trust bears all the expenses.
This year, the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu team from Tirunelveli won the overall championship and came first.
The cup was presented to the team by A. Ramamurthy, retired High court judge and administrative trustee of Anjalai Ammal Mahalingam Engineering College.
SDAT team from Thanjavur won the second prize and SDAT team from Pudukottai won the third prize. Ramamurthy appreciated the trust for organising the meet continuously for the past twelve years.
