Staff Reporter
CHENNAI: A two-wheeler rider, who was hit by a speeding police jeep on Saturday, died in hospital early on Sunday.
The police said the accident took place when the jeep, driven by constable Karunakaran, neared the Casa Major Road-Pantheon Road intersection in Egmore.
The two-wheeler rider, identified as Tony Joseph (35), a resident of Perambur, was thrown off his vehicle. Preliminary inquiries revealed that the two-wheeler rider was not wearing a helmet. A traffic police officer said eight months ago, a police jeep from Villupuram hit a person near Adyar in which the victim died.
