Watery grave for two youths

VIJAYAWADA: Two youngsters were drowned in a pond in Gannavaram on Sunday. The victims were identified as J. Praveen Kumar, 16, and B. Sudheer, 19, both residents of Christianpet in Gannavaram. The police said that both of them went to the pond near Konayya Cheruvu for fishing and were drowned. The bodies were fished out by the police and sent for post-mortem. A case was registered.

A six-year-girl was raped in Bhavanipuram and her neighbours handed over a 22-year-old man to the police on Sunday.

The police charged Jonnakuti Anand Vijay, a mason and a resident of Church Road in Bhavanipuram, with raping the girl at her home in the afternoon, when her parents left for work.
