The girl was allegedly abused by a police constable She will be under the care of CDPO HASSAN: The district administration here on Sunday announced that it would take care of the 13-year-old girl, who was allegedly raped by a police constable. The girl would be admitted to the Bala Vikasa Mandir in Hassan, where she would stay till she attained the age of 21. Deputy Commissioner K.H. Ashwathanarayana Gowda told The Hindu here on Sunday that the girl would be under the care of the child development officer. The girl was sexually abused on January 3 while she was waiting for a bus at the Arsikere bus stand. She was admitted to the government hospital at Arsikere. After treatment, she was sent home. The constable was arrested. He has already been suspended. Mr. Gowda said he discussed the issue with taluk officers at Arsikere on Saturday and it was decided to help the girl. The entire expenditure would be borne by the government. The girl would be provided education and she would be under the care of the Child Development Project Officer (CDPO). At the meeting, the guardians of the victim; Additional Superintendent Umesh Pangam; Deputy Superintendent of Police Prabhakar; tahsildar Mruthunjaya; and CDPO Kiran were present. Remand extendedMeanwhile, the accused constable Shashidhar, already under judicial custody, was produced in court on January 19 and his remand was further extended till February 2.
