House pattas for poromboke residents: K.N. Nehru

TIRUCHI: The State Government would take steps to issue house pattas for people residing in poromboke lands for more than five years, said State Transport Minister K.N.Nehru.
The district administration would also hold negotiations with occupants of temple land and measures would be taken to reduce the rent, he said, after inaugurating a multimedia exhibition put up by the Directorate of Information and Public Relations at Makkal Mandram in the city on Sunday.
On the various State schemes, Mr. Nehru said about 31,000 families would get free LPG connection before February. Four phases of monthly financial aid scheme for unemployed youth have been completed and about 21,000 youth would receive financial aid amounting to Rs. 4.72 crore in the fifth phase.
Distributing welfare assistance to the tune of Rs. 10 lakh for 96 beneficiaries, State Forests Minister N. Selvaraj urged the public to gain firsthand information about the departments. The campaign, he said, would create awareness among the masses on the implemented projects.
Presiding over the function, District Collector Ashish Vachhani said that the exhibition is an ideal platform for the officials to interact with the people and he urged the public to give their feedback of the exhibition to help the departments improve their services. Mayor Sarubala R. Tondaiman, District Panchayat Chairperson V. Sangeetha and Deputy Mayor M. Anbazhagan were present.
The exhibition features the list of facilities offered at various departments and displayed the details of welfare schemes carried out till date.
About 40 stalls of the Government departments and 10 retailing stalls by city-based self-help groups are on show.
In connection with the campaign, five health camps, 12 eye camps, 17 cattle camps and five awareness camps on silkworm rearing and video screenings on the Government’s achievements would be organised in various parts of the district. Healthy baby contest and dog show will also be held.
