IUML anniversary meet on March 9

PUDUCHERRY: The Indian Union Muslim League will hold a special meet in Vellore on March 9 to mark its 60th anniversary, party State president K.M. Khader Moideen said on Sunday.

He told reporters here that Congress president and United Progressive Alliance chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi and leaders of the Democratic Progressive Alliance would be invited. The party’s organisational elections at the district level would be completed on February 2, when the State unit’s office bearers would be elected, he said.

Commending the DMK government for providing 3.5 per cent sub quota each for Muslims and Christians in education and employment, Mr. Moideen urged the Centre to implement reservation for the minorities at the national level.
