Subash Singh gives Indian Bank the title

CHENNAI: Subash Singh’s fine strike from 25 yards in the 42nd minute enabled Indian Bank overcome Reserve Bank of India 1-0 in the final of the Don Bosco-Fr. Gerard football tournament at the Don Bosco Youth Centre, Basin Bridge, here on Sunday.

The winner received the Fr. Gerard Rolling Trophy from P. Kalimuthu, DGP (Retired).

Special prizes: Top scorers of the tournament: Johnson & Kuppusamy (both RBI): 3 goals each; Best forward: Santhakumar (IB); Best midfielder: Pradeep Kumar (Madras Sporting Union); Best defender: Chinnaiya (SAI); Best goalkeeper: Rajini (DB-Annai Youth); Promising player: Ramkumar (Soccer Club).

Easy for JASA BC

JASA BC defeated Magic BC 75-47 in the men’s section of the All Star Trophy basketball tournament at the Corporation grounds, Venkatnarayana Road, here on Sunday.

NLC wins team title

Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC) with 330 points won the overall team championship (Group I to IV events combined) in the three-day Tamil Nadu State short-course age group swimming championship, here on Sunday.

On the final day, 22 new meet records were created taking the total to 66.

The results: Team championship: Boys: Group I: SDAT-Anna (118 points); Group II: SDAT-Angel (99); Group III: Turtles (120); Group IV: Turtles (81); Group V: SDAT-Anna (30); Group VI: SDAT-Anna (39); Group VII: ORCA (21); Group VIII: ORCA (21).

Sutherland posts win

Sutherland defeated Covansys by 28 runs in a super league semifinal match of the Corporate Twenty20 tournament, organised by the Tamil Nadu Cricket Veterans’ Association, here on Sunday.

Sutherland, Cognizant, Amedia Consultants, Covansys, C.H. Robinson and Universal Relocations have qualified for the super league semifinal.

The scores: Super league semifinals: Sutherland 149 for seven in 20 overs (S. Gosakan 53, J. Gopalakrishnan three for 19) beat Covansys 121 for seven in 20 overs (Viswanath 50, Kirthivasan 28, Sudheer three for 18).

Covansys 77 for nine in 20 overs (Prakash Chander three for 20) lost to Amedia Consultants 78 for one in 7.2 overs (Punath Raj 45).

League: Sutherland 161 for four in 20 overs (Thiruvikram 54, Shankar 36, Prakash 40) beat Ajuba 126 for eight in 20 overs (Sylvester 31 n.o., Badri Narayanan three for 30).

HCL 164 for eight in 20 overs (Ganesh 84, Deepak three for 20) beat 3 I Infotech 76 in 15 overs (Farid four for 21).

Ashok Leyland 151 for three in 20 overs (Sudakar Rao 58, Senthil Kumar 66) lost to All Zones 152 for four in 17.2 overs (Lionel 39, Lakshman 56 n.o.).
