BANGALORE: Three persons, including a pedestrian, were killed in as many accidents reported in the city. A former Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. employee was killed when he was hit by a vehicle near Police Thimmaiah Circle, opposite the General Post Office, on Sunday. The police said Govindaraj (62), who was on a morning walk, was hit by a vehicle while he was crossing Raj Bhavan Road. The Cubbon Park Police have registered a case. A search is on for the vehicle. In another accident, Irfan Nasir Baig (26), an employee of a software firm on M.G. Road, was killed while he was returning on the motorcycle to his house in J.P. Nagar on Saturday. According to the police, Baig was riding the motorcycle by keeping his helmet on the handle bar. Baig lost control of the vehicle while he was taking a turn on Cemetery Road. Baig hit a road median and was killed on the spot. The Ashok Nagar police have registered a case A 36-year-old agriculturist was killed and his friend was seriously injured when the motorcycle they were riding on was hit by a lorry at Deepak “U” turn near Shell petrol pump on Pune-Bangalore National Highway. According to the police, the victim, Krishnappa, was riding pillion on the motorcycle driven by his friend, Vivek (19). The lorry knocked them from behind. Krishnappa, a resident of Kurubarahalli, was killed on the spot. Vivek was admitted to a private hospital in J.P. Nagar. The driver of the lorry abandoned the vehicle. The Peenya Traffic police have registered a case. The vehicle has been seized. FallA 22-year-old labourer died on Saturday after he fell off from the 11th floor of an apartment being constructed on Avenue Road. According to the police, the labourer, Balaram, slipped when he bent forward to check why asbestos sheet were not being sent to the 11th floor. The Upparpet police have registered a case of unnatural death. Idols missingThree “panchalooha” idols have been reported to be missing from Kodandaramaswamy Temple in the Chickpet police station limits. According to a complaint, the temple archak noticed that the idols of Rama, Lakshmana and Anjaneya were missing on Saturday. The idols were worth about Rs. 45,000, the police said. TheftCash and gold ornaments were reportedly taken away from the house of Manivannan in Maruti Layout in Hennur Police station limits on Saturday. According to the police, Manivannan and his wife locked the house and proceeded to their offices in the morning. When Manivannan returned in the evening he saw that the cash and gold ornaments had gone missing. ArrestedThe police have arrested the husband of Ambali Bharati who was found murdered on January 12. Bharati was an employee of Krishna Bhagya Jala Nigam. The police caught Raju in his native place Shiggaon in Haveri district on Sunday. He will be brought to the city on Monday, the police said. Raju is alleged to have stabbed his 34-year-old typist-wife to death. The body was found following a complaint by the owner of the house. The police have recovered the knife used in the crime and also the bloodstained clothes said to be that of Raju.
