Petit Seminaire students make good marksmen

PUDUCHERRY: Students of Petit Seminaire Higher Secondary School fared well at the annual NCC training camp held at the group headquarters in Lawspet from January 4 to 13. Cadet R. Abinesh of Standard VIII-C was given the ‘best firer’ award and cadet V.S. Simon Jude of Standard VII-B was chosen as the second best firer.

Sergeant R. Pravine of Standard IX-A was adjudged ‘best cadet’ in the camp in the junior wing based on his overall performance. Cadet M. Sankaranarayanan of Standard VIII-A and cadet M. Sriram of Standard VII-E received first prizes in the cultural show.

S. Balaji of Standard XII B2 came second in the AIEEE model examination, conducted by The Hindu Education Plus in collaboration with AIMS Education. A total of 13,500 students appeared for the exam. Balaji came second in the Tamil Nadu level and first in Puducherry State. He was given a trophy and cash prize of Rs. 2,500 by The Hindu.

S. Pradeep Kumar of Standard VIII-D received a silver medal in the under-14 Artistic Free Style category in the 53rd National School Skating Championship held in Ahmedabad. Father M.S. John Bosco, principal, congratulated the student and spoke about Pradeep Kumar’s achievement in the morning assembly.

R. Alagia Singan of Standard V-F bagged the silver medal in the 50 m backstroke event and the bronze in the 50 m freestyle event in the 21st South Zone Aquatic Competition held in Bangalore from January 9 to 11.

Drawing praise from CM

Alpha Matriculation Higher Secondary School student Tamizh Muthalvan of Standard VI B won the third prize in a drawing competition organized by the Pasumpon Muthuramalinga Thevar Mandram at the Pasumpon Muthuramalinga Thevar Jayanthi Vizha.

Chief Minister N. Rangasamy gave him an award. School principal V. Bashingam and school director B. Dhana Thiyagou congratulated the student on his performance.
