Five held during Haryana police’s special drive

CHANDIGARH: Under a special campaign to nab anti-social elements launched from January 1 to 15, the Haryana police have arrested five accused and reportedly recovered one Indica car, two pistols and two live cartridges from their possession in Bhiwani district.

An official spokesman said here on Monday that the five — identified as Ashok, Rajesh, Sombir, Rajbir and Pradeep — were arrested while they were reportedly planning to loot vehicles at Prem Nagar in Bhiwani. Further investigations are on.

Another 10 also arrested

The police have also arrested another 10 accused under the Indian Arms Act and claim to have recovered seven pistols, six live cartridges and one sword from their possession.

Another 24 persons have been arrested under the Gambling Act and Rs.10,715 has been recovered from them, the spokesman added.
