Rajasthan appoints village workers

JAIPUR: The Rajasthan Government has decided to appoint Village Employment Assistants to ensure better implementation of the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme being extended to all districts in the State from April 1 this year.

The Village Employment Assistants, to be engaged on the contract basis, will monitor the execution of NREGS and suggest ways to extend its benefits to the rural population and create permanent assets for the benefit of villagers.

State Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Kalulal Gujjar said here on Monday that the district-level committees would screen the candidates after inviting applications within the respective districts.“Priority will be given to the candidates belonging to below poverty line, SCs and STs, .” The academic qualification for the new posts has been fixed at senior secondary level, with the priority to the candidates with the knowledge of computer operations.
