Villagers block road

VIRUDHUNAGAR: Over 100 villagers, including students, blocked vehicular traffic on the Virudhunagar-Sivakasi road on Monday in protest against poor condition of the road leading to Servaikaranpatti on Monday. The villagers demanded immediate repair of the 4-km stretch of the road between Servaikaranapatti and Uppodai junction. Revenue officials pacified them with the promise of laying a new road by June. They also promised to convert the part-time ration shop in the village into a full-time shop.
