Hundreds of devotees throng Perinad temple

Staff Reporter

PATHANAMTHITTA: Hundreds of devotees thronged Sree Dharma Sastha Temple at Perinad, near Vadasserikkara, for a darshan of the Thiruvabharanam on Monday.

The Thiruvabharanam, sacred jewellery believed to have been offered to the presiding deity at the Sabarimala Ayyappa temple by the king of the erstwhile Pandalam kingdom, was brought to the Perinad temple in a procession on its return trail to Pandalam in the forenoon.

The idol at the temple was adorned with the sacred jewellery prior to the Utchapuja. The temple was open till 11.30 p.m. on Monday to facilitate darshan of the Thiruvabharanam. The Thiruvabharanam procession will proceed to Aranmula on Tuesday and the royal entourage will halt at the Aranmula Palace in the evening. It will reach the Pandalam Palace on Wednesday.
