Groups performance to be monitored next year Fish landing centre at Chintapalli inaugurated VIZIANAGARAM: Minister for Animal Husbandry and Fisheries M. Buddha Prasad, who is also the district In-charge Minister, said that ‘matsya mitra’ groups were selected on an experimental basis in Vizianagaram and Parvathipuram and released Rs. 1.75 lakhs for imparting training to them in pisciculture. Addressing a press conference at R&B guest house here on Monday, Mr. Prasad said that more ‘matsya mitra’ groups would be selected after monitoring the performance of the two groups next year. ‘Pavala vaddi’He said that ‘pavala vaddi’ scheme would be extended to these groups and also supply fish seed at 50 per cent subsidy for cultivating fish in reservoirs. The Minister said that the ‘pavala vaddi’ scheme would be extended to farmers who were willing to start mini dairy units and also agro-based small-scale industries in villages. ‘Pasu kranti’On ‘pasu kranti’ scheme, the Minister said that Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy had evolved an ambitious plan to supply 1.20 lakh heads of milch cattle being imported from other states for distribution among the poor SC, ST and BCs. He said that in Vizianagaram district implementation of the scheme was tardy due to demand of bankers for a tie-up with societies. The Collector, however, had taken every step to clear over 1,000 units shortly. Later, Mr. Prasad inaugurated fish landing centre at Chintapalli in Poosapatirega mandal. He assured the fishermen that community halls would be build in the next fiscal. Minister for Housing Botsa Satyanarayana and others were present. Minister comingMinister for Social Welfare Pilli Subhas Chandra Bose is arriving here on Tuesday. He will review social welfare activities with officials at Zilla Parishad conference hall and later participate in locally-arranged programmes. He will leave for Srikakulam of Wednesday morning, according to an official release.
