District Collector asks RDO to inquire into alleged bungling by revenue officials

Saraswati

ONGOLE: A hapless woman with her three daughters came all the way from Yerragondapalem to Ongole to narrate their plight caused due to alleged bungling of revenue officials. She submitted a representation to District Collector K. Devanand at the grievances day meeting held here on Monday.Yerrabothu Srinivasulu occupied five acres of government land in Amanigudipadu village years ago to raise dry crops like red gram, cotton etc. After he died of dog bite, his widow Saraswati has been cultivating the land to support her family with three daughters aged 14, 16 and 18 years. Revenue officials regularised the encroachment by issuing patta in 1997. They also issued pattadar passbook to her. But the family happiness was shattered due to bungling made by revenue officials during second phase of land distribution programme.

The officials allegedly allotted the land under political pressure to two women – Adilakshmi and Akkamma who are said to be in a better position financially than Saraswathi. The victims were not aware of the allotment until the new beneficiaries prevented them from entering their land in August last.

Saraswathi blamed the village officer, Ugra Narasimham for the bungling. When she came to know of the allotment, she beseeched the village officer to restore the land to her but in vain. She made several rounds to Mandal Revenue Officer too without any result. So she came to represent her woes to the Collector on Monday.Mr Devanand asked Revenue Divisional Officer of Markapur to inquire and report.
