English at primary level opposed

HYDERABAD: The Official Languages Commission has objected to the proposal made by the School Education Department to introduce English language from Class I itself. Referring to the present plan to set up concept/gurukul schools with English medium, the commission chairman A. B. K. Prasad said introduction of English at Class I level and English medium in concept/gurukul schools are sure to harm Telugu language. —Special Correspondent
