Women-centric studies a must: R. Poornima

Staff Correspondent

KOLAR: R. Poornima, editor of Udayavani, stressed on the need for women-centric studies in all respects of life. Such studies should be taken up by social organisations besides academic study, she said while inaugurating a camp on women and culture, organised by Kannada and Culture Department, in association with several academies and Adima, a cultural association at Shivagange village on Monday.

Referring to studies by eminent social scientists like Frederick Engles, Ms. Poornima noted that women were the first to be involved in agricultural activities in the evolution of human civilisation.

Despite their enormous contribution to the development of society, the role of women goes unrecorded in history, said Ms. Poornima.
