Taxpayers seek modification of GOs

Staff Reporter

KADAPA: Kadapa City Taxpayers Association on Monday suggested modifications in G.O. Nos. 901 and 902 issued to regularise illegal layouts and structures.

Residential structures built within a span of 200 yards should be regularised without any penal fee, association president N. Krishnamurthy, convener B. Subba Reddy, co-convener S. Prabhakar, People for India Forum convener S. Sultan Mohiuddin and CITU leader N. Ravisankar Reddy urged in a memorandum to Joint Collector M. Girijasankar.

Burdensome

Accusing the government of handing over hundreds of acres to bigwigs on the pretext of special economic zones, they decried the tax burden on the common man.

Property and water taxes, layout plan approval charges and garbage collection fee increased of late and imposing compound fees for regularisation of unauthorised structures was burdensome to the poor and middle classes, they maintained.
