Intolerance exposed

The attack on the Ahmedabad NDTV office on Saturday exposes the intolerance nurtured by fringe outfits that call themselves protectors of the Hindu religion. Such assaults on the media will dent Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s image and bring disrepute to his government. They will trigger panic and trepidation among the minorities and the media.

R. Krishnamachary,

Chennai

The attack by religious fanatics, calling themselves activists of the Hindu Samrajya Sena, to protest the NDTV’s inclusion of M.F. Husain’s name in its SMS poll for the choice of Bharat Ratna is no doubt condemnable. But the channel could have avoided including Mr. Husain’s name. It should have known that the inclusion of his name would create law and order problems.

S. Nallasivan,

Tirunelveli
