Seeking justice: Diploma students staging a dharna in Chitradurga on Monday. Chitradurga: Several students of diploma courses, under the aegis of the All India Students’ Federation (AISF), staged a protest in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s here on Monday demanding revision of examination fee. In a memorandum submitted to the Deputy Commissioner here on Monday, they demanded that the Government reduce the fee, which they say has been sharply increased. As compared to last year, the fee, which was Rs. 175, has now been increased to Rs. 350. This has become difficult for poor students, they said. They also alleged that several private institutes running diploma courses had been charging exorbitant fees in the name donations. Many students coming from rural areas were not in a position to pay such huge sums, they said. Keeping the interests of the students in mind, the Government should revise the fee structure and initiate strict action against institutions demanding donations, they said, and added that a separate hostel for vocational students should be built.
