Centre asked to set time-frame
Staff Reporter
NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Monday directed the Centre to inform it about the time-frame within which it would make it statutorily compulsory for manufacturers of tobacco products to list the ingredients of the products on the pouches.
Ingredients’ details
A Division Bench of the Court comprising Justice T.S. Thakur and Justice Aruna Suresh asked the Union Health Ministry to inform it within a week if the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products (Prohibition of Advertisement and Regulation of Trade and Commerce, Production, Supply and Distribution) Act which requires manufacturers to print ingredients’ details on the pouches had been implemented.
The Court issued the directions on a public interest litigation.
